Jumps......How HIGH can you GO!!
In cheerleading, jumps are used to excite the crowd and add an complex element to either a cheer or dance. When done right, your jumps can look AMAZING. The basic cheer jumps are, the tuck, star, and pencil jump. Once you've mastered these jumps, your able to move on to more intermediate and advance jumps, such as, the herkie, pike, toe-touch, and the hurdler. Below is a a video that demonstrates the basic jumps and the proper technique. Let's get to work, and get you jumping. If you are practicing these jumps at home, please make sure to stretch properly and do a complete warm-up and cool down before and after you're done. You don't want to hurt yourself. Enjoys these quick tutorials. :) For my more advance cheerleaders, I have included a tutorial on two advance jumps: The Herkie and The Toe-touch.
Again remember to stretch properly BEFORE and AFTER these tutorials. Not sure how...check out my FITNESS and NUTRITION page, before you attempt these jumps.
